Minisforum cuts flagship AMD Ryzen AI workstation price to $7,399 for limited preorder

Minisforum has launched a preorder period for its premium MS‑S1 MAX‑P495 workstation, now available for $7,399. This promotional rate marks a significant drop from the usual street price of over $9,200 and is presented as a limited‑time offer for customers seeking high‑performance, AI‑ready equipment.

At its core lies AMD’s 16‑core Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor, which combines CPU and AI acceleration cores on one die. Paired with 192 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a 2 TB SSD, the unit provides the bandwidth and storage needed for intensive tasks like 3‑D rendering, machine‑learning training, and real‑time video processing.

In addition to its specs, the reduction amounts to about a 20 percent discount from the regular retail price, a figure Minisforum says underscores its strategy to gain foothold in the fast‑growing AI‑centric desktop market. The firm warns that the special price is valid only while inventory remains, encouraging buyers to act quickly.

Analysts point out that the MS‑S1 MAX‑P495 sits between conventional workstations and bulkier rack‑mounted AI servers. Its small chassis and consumer‑oriented design appeal to freelance creators, SMEs, and research groups that lack the space or funds for enterprise‑level hardware yet need on‑site processing capability.

The debut comes as a wider surge of AI‑focused hardware hits the market, such as the newly revealed Gorgon Halo series, which also aims at creators and engineers wanting ready‑to‑use performance. This concentration of offerings highlights an expanding appetite for desktop‑grade machines capable of AI inference and training without depending on cloud services.

Minisforum intends to start delivering the preordered units later this quarter and notes that upcoming variants could offer larger storage or newer AMD CPUs. As the AI workstation sector evolves, the company’s bold pricing could become a reference point for rivals, possibly redefining price expectations for premium desktop AI systems.
