Blaze Entertainment Charts Long-Term Roadmap for Evercade, Seeks Alliances with Gaming Titans

Blaze Entertainment, the maker of the Evercade handheld, unveiled a multi‑year strategy aimed at prolonging the console’s life well past its six‑year milestone.

Sean Cleaver, Blaze’s head of communications, said the roadmap covers three to four years and aims to strengthen the relationship with classic‑games publisher Rare while also pursuing new partnerships with major developers.

He added that talks are in progress with EA, Sega and Bandai Namco, but emphasized that any deal will hinge on each studio’s timing and preparedness. “It’s about when they’re ready to do it,” Cleaver remarked, noting that negotiations remain in the early phase.

Since its 2020 debut, the Evercade has found a niche by delivering legally licensed retro games on physical cartridges. Ongoing releases and a dedicated collector community have sustained its lifespan, leading Blaze to target an additional six years of support, matching the time it has already been on the market.

Analysts point out that obtaining licences from major publishers could expand the Evercade’s catalog and draw a broader crowd, though such agreements typically involve intricate revenue splits and technical integration. Blaze’s stated goal of tighter collaboration with Rare—renowned for classics like “Banjo‑Kazooie” and “GoldenEye”—may indicate a push to introduce higher‑profile games to the system.

Going forward, Blaze says it will keep assessing market demand and partner interest, with plans to roll out new hardware versions or software updates as part of its long‑term approach. Though the roadmap remains provisional, it signals that Evercade’s team is dedicated to maintaining the retro‑gaming experience for the foreseeable future.
