Although supplemental feeding is often advocated to aid wildlife, the results indicate that, without proper hygiene and management, it may produce unforeseen epidemiological effects.

Modifying feeder design, placement, and cleaning schedules enables bird lovers to maintain their hobby while lowering parasite transmission risk.

Upcoming studies plan to pinpoint the parasite species most common at feeder sites and to evaluate mitigation tactics in practical contexts. In the meantime, the findings remind us that good‑intented wildlife assistance should be weighed against disease‑ecology considerations, particularly in habitats where human activity gathers both birds and food sources.
