Disney+ Offers 30% Off Annual Subscriptions in Australia and New Zealand Before Price Hike
Starting tomorrow, Disney+ will return to its regular subscription price, yet users in Australia and New Zealand can secure a 30% reduction on yearly plans by subscribing before the increase is applied.
This offer follows two consecutive years of price hikes – the first in February 2025 when ESPN was added to the platform, and a second increase in April 2026 as part of a worldwide rate revision.
Analysts point out that although numerous streaming competitors have modestly raised fees in the last year, Disney+ is among the rare services to apply successive hikes. The current discount is presented as a “thank you” to regional loyalists and an effort to keep churn‑sensitive customers before the price reset.
In Australia, the annual plan now costs AUD $149, reduced from the standard AUD $213 after the 30% cut. New Zealand mirrors this structure, with the discounted yearly price at NZD $159 compared with the regular NZD $227.
Experts argue the timing coincides with a competitive environment where rivals like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and regional services are also adjusting their rates. The promotion may aid Disney+ in maintaining its subscriber count as it keeps growing original programming and sports content.
Customers who do not take advantage of the short‑term deal will face the full price again on 21 October 2026. Disney+ has not signaled if comparable offers will return, prompting observers to monitor how the price reset impacts subscriber growth in the ensuing months.
